Woman charred to death at F&G Sector in Itanagar

Victim's husband, suffered about 15 per cent burn injuries

ITANAGAR: A woman was charred to death at the F&G Sector here. The incident happened at around 5:30 am. The victim has been identified as about 40-year-old Giogi Yager.

Her husband, Giogi Tanu also suffered about 15 per cent burn injuries and has been referred to hospital outside the State for further treatment.

Speaking to the reporters, Fire station officer K.T. Gambo informed that the fire might have spread from the fire hearth within the thatched house itself. He also informed that the victim and other members of the family were having a Nyokum festival celebration till about 4 am this morning.

The house with all its belongings was totally gutted because there was no approach road to the house for the fire tenders. Moreover, the lane leading to the area is also very narrow. "We, however, managed to contain the inferno from spreading to other residents," he added.
