SEPPA: Minister for Environment & Forest Mama Natung, MLA Tapuk Taku and Hayeng Mangfi attended the launching programme of Women Night School (WNS) and flagging off of Exposure Tour for Self Help Group (SHG) organized by the Women Welfare Organization in collaboration with ArSLM at Nyider Namlo near here on Monday.

Appreciating the WWO for coming up with the idea of WNS in the district, Natung appealed to the women community to work in making the district 'Aatma Nirbhar East Kameng', by involving women from rural villages in self sustainable works. He said, "Besides education, the women community should focus of encouraging cluster farming and nutritional kitchen gardening for a living. The involvement of women as well as men in gambling and online games like Tambola should be discouraged. We should from now on work for a new East Kameng district and to do so, entire public of the district should come forth. And to make the mission successful, the women community has a great role to play."

He also assured the SHG with any kind of help and assistance from his end and also appealed to the legislators from the district to do the same for women empowerment. Natung later donated Semi-Automatic Sewing Machine to Dokum Dane SHG, Lamdung, All East Kameng Weaver and Artisans Cooperative Society and to the department of ARSLM. He stressed on encouraging the idea of 'Vocal for Local'.

The exposure tour is being sponsored by minister Mama Natung. Suggesting the WWO to continue the WNS in sector wise, Town MLA-Tapuk Taku said that the night school should a long-term initiative rather than a temporary project. He also asked the WWO to benefit from the exposure tour and grasp ideas from the people of other States.

"The exposure tour should not be a sight-seeing tour but every individual should learn new things from it and accordingly implement it in the district," he said, also assuring financial assistance for daily market in the Seppa town for SHG.

Responding to the 22-point memorandum submitted to the respective legislators on annual action plan by Deputy Commissioner Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla, Taku said that the plan was impressive and beneficial for the entire district. He said a meeting with leaders of Team East Kameng would soon be held on the matter and accordingly, they would approach the State Government for any assistance needed.

Legislator Hayeng Mangfi, while also appreciating the WWO and other SHGs, asked them to streamline the uneducated Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers. He said that there were still many Aganwadi and ASHA workers without basis writing knowledge, which ultimately ended in low standard of work and communication.

"Education is one of the major aspects for better parenting for bright future of children. Therefore, every mother and women in the urban as well as rural areas should be well trained and educated," he said.

Meanwhile, DC Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla highlighted the one-year action plan, which is also the aspiration of WWO. He said that the district administration was a guiding tool to the SHG. He said that investing on women welfare had always yielded a lot.

Earlier, general secretary of WWO, Puppy Sonam Bagang informed that the night schools for women would presently continue at GHSS, Bebo Colony, GHSS Bazar line, and Government school at New Seppa.
