Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) on Thursday vehemently condemned the alleged rape of a woman by a MLA in Arunachal Pradesh.

Taking suo moto cognizance of a case at the Itanagar Women Police Station, APSCW member-secretary Marbi Taipodioa Jini in a statement said that the case status has been sought from Capital Superintendent of Police (SP) Jimmy Chiram.

However, it would be too early for an assumption without proper and final investigation of police in the case. But rape cases are grievous crime which effects both physical and mental state of the victims and their families as well as society. It is a very condemnable crime, if the alleged crime by the law maker is proved true, the women panel said.

The APSCW requested the law-enforcing agency for a fair and unbiased investigation to deliver justice to the victim.

It also urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and neither take the law into their hands nor resort to social media trolling, the statement added.
