Yomgo River Festival unfolds amid fanfare

Itanagar: The much-awaited Yomgo River Festival unfolded in a colourful manner on the right bank of Yomgo River at Aalo in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.

Tourism Minister Jarkar Gamlin attending the festival said festivals are organized in different parts of the State to promote tourism and to showcase the rich cultural and natural beauty of the State to outsiders.

“Hospitality is a watchword for promoting such avenues,” the minister said and exhorted all to put in an all-out effort to make it a yearly calendar event in the district. “It should be ensured that the festival comes to an end without any law and order problem,” Gamlin added.

State Assembly Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra also spoke on the occasion.

West Siang DC Swetika Sachan in her deliberation, briefed about the importance of the festival. A cultural troupe from Tirap and Longding also took part in the celebration.
