Youth rapes 70 yr-old in West Siang district, Arunachal
Itanagar: Conglomeration of associations and women wings, in a representation to West Siang DC, have sought stern action against Idak Bagra, 25, for allegedly sexually assaulting Higi Bagra, a 70-year-old woman on April 28.
AO Youth Association, representing, Women Welfare Society of Higi Bagra, Aalo APWWS Unit, Pushi Bango Welfare Society and Paktu Ao Youth Welfare Association, demanded the DC to award exemplary punishment to the culprit for repeatedly outraging the modesty of women, to post CO to Bagra circle officer and creation of police outpost there to contain such growing crimes.
The culprit threatened the women with dire consequences and raped her in the dead of night. A case has been registered at Aalo police station on receipt of an FIR lodged by her family members. The rapist evaded arrest for few days but surrendered at Aalo PS on Friday due to mounting pressure from various associations and villagers. The rapist is a habitual offender as he had committed such crime against a daily wage earning woman on May last year, police sources from Aalo informed.
