Assam Along With Rest of Northeast To Witness Rainfall And Thunderstorm For Next 5 Days

Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning for the next 24 hours. IMD issued a yellow watch over the entire northeast for the upcoming two days.

GUWAHATI: The prevailing weather condition of rain and thunderstorm in the regions of northeastern states will continue for the next five days as per the IMD weather forecast.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the areas of the northeast will get wetter with fresh rain spells from Friday 25 March to Tuesday 29 March 2022.

Moreover, the states of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are on thunderstorm alert during the rainy weather.

IMD stated that during the next 5 days scattered to fairly widespread rainfall of light to moderate intensity is expected over the regions of states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim and Sub Himalayan West Bengal.

The weather channel also reported that the states of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh will witness heavy downpours in the isolated regions in the next 24 hours.

In addition, the IMD forecast says that isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely over the northeastern regions on Friday 25 March and Saturday 26 March.

In its concern over the weather prediction in the northeast, the IMD has issued a yellow watch over the region for the upcoming 2 days.

The weather channel has further issued an advisory asking the residents to be aware of the local weather forecast and take necessary measures mainly during the thunderstorm.

The country's metrological department also added that no major change in these average temperatures can be expected from Friday to Tuesday.

It may be mentioned that northeastern states mainly Assam have been experiencing heavy rain along with terrific strong winds since the previous week.

The rain and gusty winds have been causing extreme damages in some areas by uprooting trees and destroying houses, shops and other establishments.
