Taking on twitter, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that, “I strongly condemn the act of violence at the Panbari area of the Asam-Arunachal border in Dhemaji, where one person named Boga Chutia of Borbila Chutiakari village of my constituency has been killed, and 3 persons - Monitu Gogoi, Puspa Gogoi and Akoni Gohain of Milonpur village have been injured. @DhemajiPolice are on the spot. @himantabiswa @PradanBaruah “

As per sources, Boga Chutia of Assam has been identified as one of the deceased, who was planting trees as part of World Environment Day celebrations along the Assam-Arunachal border. In contrast, two people have been reported injured, Pushpa Gogoi and Montu Gogoi. The injured were taken to the closest hospital for treatment.

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the border between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has not yet been fully delineated in several sections of Dhemaji.

On the other hand, on April 20, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu, reached an agreement to settle a long-standing border dispute between the two states in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to an official news release at the time, the home minister stated that the disagreement, which spanned over 700 miles of border, had been "completely resolved."

Furthermore, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dismissed the likelihood of Arunachali miscreants being behind the attack, claiming that it was a land dispute between locals.

He stated that the police will conduct a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of the district administration.
