GUWAHATI: On Thursday 20 January, the western Himalayan region is expected to witness isolated rain/snow under the influence of a Western Disturbance.

A new western disturbance and a cyclonic circulation accompanying along with it are forecast to arrive in Pakistan on Friday 21 January and as a result, it will affect the northern region of India throughout the weekend days.

The same condition is likely to witness in the north part of Rajasthan on Saturday 22 January and on the next day on Sunday 23 January it will move to Punjab.

This Western Disturbance will cause fairly widespread to widespread rain/snow along with thunderstorms over the areas of western Himalayan.

On 22 and 23 January, the Western Disturbance will bring fairly widespread to widespread rain and thunderstorm over the areas of states covering Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.

Heavy rain is likely over Indian states Delhi Punjab and Haryana on Saturday 22 January and heavy snowfall or rain is forecast in the regions of Himachal Pradesh on the same day.

The cyclonic circulation that will be accompanied by Western disturbance will be seen around the areas of Bangladesh and as a result, the entire North-Eastern region will experience isolated to scattered rainfall or snowfall. The same situation is likely in adjoining Bihar and West Bengal starting from 22 January Saturday to 24 January Monday.

Throughout the period fairly widespread rainfall or snow is expected over the areas of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

On Thursday 20 January cold air will cover Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and it is like to blanket the northwestern part of the country on Saturday 22 January and from the next day onwards it will be spreading over the northeastern region of India.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued by IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) in view of the expected weather condition so that people get themselves prepared for cold and fog occurring in their areas.

On Thursday 20 January as for mercury levels, the maximum temperature will go below the average in the areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

From Sunday onwards the minimum temperatures will get lowered over the areas of states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The temperature is likely to get lowered over North Indian regions from 23 January onwards and over northwest Indian areas on 22 January.

Throughout the entire period, the southern region of the southern area will remain slightly warmer than average.
