BAKSA: Five persons tested COVID-19 positive in the greater Kumarikata area along the Indo-Bhutan border and three others tested COVID-19 positive in Tamulpur on Friday.

The five people are Rajashri Agarwal (22) , Risav Agarwal (26), Pavan Kumar Agarwal (52), Santoshi Agarwal (47) and 10-year-old Deepa Rana from N K Darrangamela. On Friday, Santoshi Agarwal, a woman suffering from fever and cough for two days, tested COVID-19 positive when she came to do a COVID test with her family. On the other hand, workers from the health department went to Khairani village and performed the COVID test of Milan Karki (33) and Chandra Kala Karki (25) and they tested positive.

In COVID test performed at Tamulpur Primary Health Centre on Friday, three persons tested positive. They are Prasanna Mahanta (60) of Charangbari village, Girendra Baishya (55) of Baregaon and his wife Praneeta Baishya (47). Moreover, two persons also tested positive in Nagrujuli on Friday. They are Jyotika Sinha (21) of Siddhinathpur village and Priyokanta Mandal (36).

As of now, the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 74 in different parts of Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa. One of them died on April 10 and 14 others tested negative in the latest test. As of now, there are 32 active cases.
