102-year old Raax Mahotsav underway in Bajali subdivision

PATHSALA: Raax Mahotsav in the entire Bajali subdivision, including Helona, Pathsala, Patacharkuchi, and Baghmara, struck the right chord as it entered the fourth day. The ongoing popular religious event of Assam, Raax Mahotsav is going on in full swing. The mega religious-cultural event entered the fourth day on Thursday.

The historic festival of Raax Mahotsav in Helona village has completed 102 years. Centenarian idols of Sri Krishna were repaired and have been put on display. Thousands of people gathered in the Helona Raax Mahotsav to witness a 100-year old idol of Lord Sri Krishna and many idols of different divine characters of Indian mythology. Besides, a large number of stalls of commercial establishments can be seen here.

In Pathsala town, devotees from various parts of the State visited at 44th Raax Mahotsav for the main attraction - an exhibition of more than 200 clay art symbolizing Lord Krishna. Bamboo dustbins have replaced plastic dustbins and visitors have praised the efforts put in to curb plastic pollution. In Patacharkuchi, this year more than 150 clay idols depicting the stories of epics, Vedas, Mahabharat, and Ramayana have been installed in decorated stalls. The river bed of Kaldia has been decorated with light and live train show and the abduction of Sita by Ravana has been displayed by clay idols with the help of fusion of light in the river bed. On the other hand, Baghmara village has turned into a sea of humanity for the Raax Mahotsav. The festival also strengthens the bond of unity among the people.
