Our Correspondent
MANGALDAI: With five more officials of the State Fisheries Department being placed under suspension, the total number of suspended officers has increased to 11. With the recent move like the ‘surgical strike’ initiated in the Fishery department led by minister Parimal Suklabaidya, it has appeared that the department seems to have taken a vow to ensure ‘zero tolerance’ in the department against all corrupt practices following the strict instruction of the Chief Minister.
The five suspended Fishery Demonstrators are Lakshya Dhar Barua of Rampur Development Block and Parag Deka of Bihdiya-Jajikona Development Block in Kamrup district, Laba Kumar Deka of Barhampur Development Block and Afsar Ali of Khagarijan Development Block in Nagaon district and Ajit Kalita of Manikpur Development Block in Bangaigaon district.
On the other hand, three officials have also been transferred on the basis of their alleged irregularities in performing their duties. They are Fishery Demonstrator Sumu Das of Raha Development Block and Field Assistant Satya Das of Nagaon district and Fishery Demonstrator Mojhorul Islam of Bokakhat Development Block in Golaghat district. A serious allegation has always been levelled against a section of officials of Fishery for depriving the genuine fish farmers in remote areas and misappropriation of funds meant for the beneficiaries.
