11 people coming in contact with COVID-19 patient quarantined in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Health Department admitted eight more people, who came in contact with Babu Ali, the COVID-19 patient of the district, in mass quarantine facility on Sunday. His parents and aunt were admitted in the same facility on Saturday after the swab sample of this 18-year old youth tested positive for coronavirus on the same day.

Including them, a total of 11 people of the district were admitted with suspected high risk factor of the pandemic exposure in connection with Babu Ali’s case. At present, all are admitted at Telahi Model Hospital which is equipped for the treatment of COVID-19 patients of the district.

The District Health Department sent 12 swab samples with suspected coronavirus exposure on Sunday to Regional Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, ICMR, RMRC, Lahowal of Dibrugarh district for COVID-19 test. However, no sample was sent from the district on Monday. Moreover, no test report of the sent samples was intimated to the District Health Department from the ICMR on Sunday and Monday.

On the other hand, a total of 37 persons have been kept in mass quarantine facility in the various establishments of North Lakhimpur town. According to the Health Department, 16 out of them have been kept in North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital, 6 in Punjab Hotel and 15 in Basudev Kalyan Trust. On the other hand, four medical employees of the district, who were busy in tackling the COVID-19 menace these days, were admitted in quarantine facility of Punjab Hotel to ensure their health safety. Similarly, three police personnel of the district were also quarantined at Asha Hotel for the same purpose on the same day.

The number of people stamped for home quarantine in the district increased up to 3,912 on Monday. The Health Department stamped 78 more people of the district for home isolation on Sunday and 38 on Monday.
