Guwahati:

As many as 113 students from from Assam who were stranded in Gujarat have begun their journey back home, after boarding buses from 14 different locations.

Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who shared about this development, thanked the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the Gujarat administration and Pradipsinh Vaghela, the BJP Secretary of Gujarat, for "arranging the travel, cost of which was shared by few of my good friends."

Amid the return of stranded citizens, the cases in Assam continue to tick upwards, with 100 cases being reported so far across the state. Yesterday, three more cases were detected -- all at the Sarusajai quarantine facility in the state capital Guwahati. Two of them had come from Mumbai while one arrived from Bihar.

Later in the evening, two of the cases were shifted to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital in Panbazar locality in the presence of the Health Minister himself. Taking to Twitter, Biswa Sarma wrote, "Out of the three persons detected COVID-19 positive, 2 were transferred to MMCH from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre. During my regular review visit I was present at the Stadium and the evacuation was done in my presence."
