11th district conference of Aryabhatta Science Centres held in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: The 11th district conference of Aryabhatta Science Centres (ASC), Tinsukia district was held at Saikhowa HS School with a day-long programme on Friday amid much enthusiasm with the participation of students from seven development blocks under Tinsukia district. The programme got underway with the hoisting of flag in the morning by Nodal Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shyamal Kshetra Gogoi. Thereafter, the inaugural function began with a chorus presented by students of Saikhowa HS School. District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) Binti Sarmah offered floral tributes in front of the portrait Aryabhatta and lit the ceremonial lamp. In the beginning, District Co-ordinator Diganta Bhajani explained the objectives of the meeting. It was addressed by Senior District Agriculture Officer Rajit Dutta, president of Bharat Jana Vigyan Jatra, Jiten Sarma and former competent teacher award winner Tikaram Chetri. It was followed by various competitions on extempore speech, poster/drawing and models amongst those students who qualified in the competitions held in the seven blocks under Tinsukia district - Sadiya, Saikhowa, Kakapather, Hapjan, Margherita, Guinan, and Itakhuli. In the afternoon, the open session which was held under the presidentship of Dr. Rajib Konwar was addressed by Dhiren Deka, president of Assam Science Writers’ Association (ASWA), District Programme Officer Tridib Sarma Tamuli and other dignitaries. The teachers-in-charge, evaluators and block coordinators were felicitated in the meeting. The winners of various competitions were awarded in the meeting.
