HAILAKANDI: 12 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in South Assam's Hailakandi district on Thursday, taking the tally to 393. Health authorities here disclosed that Shubuddin Barbhuiya, 20, Afzol Hussain Barbhuiya, 24, Soydur Rahman Barbhuiya, 20, Anwar Hussain Choudhury, 20, Immdadulla MZ, 22, Anwar Hussain Choudhury, 27, Salimuddin Choudhury, 22, Atikur Rahman Laskar, 20, Nazmul Islam Laskar, 19, Aminul Islam Laskar 22, Saruk Hussain Barbhuiya, 20 and Dilwar Ahmed, 27, have tested positive on Thursday. Of the infected asymptomatic persons, 11 were under facility quarantine centre at Polytechnic Institute and one at surgery ward of SMC&H. 28 are undergoing treatment at SK Roy designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital, one under home isolation, 27 at Algapur Model Hospital, 33 at Dholai MG Model Hospital, one at Karimganj Civil Hospital and four at SMC&H.

The Deputy Commissioner's establishment remained closed on Thursday with Fire and Emergency Services personnel carrying out sanitisation of the premises following detection of COVID-19 positive cases among an official and two employees. Swab collection of officials and employees of DC's office are being taken. Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Of the 9,952 swab samples taken so far, 7,670 turned out to be negative. Swab results of 1,110 are awaited as per health bulletin released on Wednesday evening. 297 cured persons have been released from hospitals with 82 active cases as on Wednesday. 1,257 persons are under facility quarantine centres while 4,297 persons under home quarantine.
