12-year-old girl burnt to death at Roha, Nagaon

HAMREN: A tragic incident took place at Roha, Nagaon as a 12-year old Karbi girl was allegedly killed on Thursday by setting her on fire.
The victim is Somali Ronghangpi of Class III. Daughter of Sarthe Ronghang and Basapi Kropi of Sar Kro Kudam Ronghang village, Duar Amla Constituency, West Karbi Anglong, she was working as a maid in the house of Prokash Borthakur. While interacting with the media, the victim's family said that she was not allowed to return home for the past four years.
The Karbi Students' Association (KSA) has demanded a high-level time-bound inquiry into the alleged murder. An FIR has been lodged at Raha Police Station with case no 97/21 under section 302. In this connection, Prokash Borthakur has been arrested.
Kabri Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang has also sent a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to bring back the mortal remains of the girl. Rupsing Teron, KAAC EM, and MAC Prabhat Ch. Taro visited the family of Somali Ronghangpi after hearing about the tragic incident. Rupsing Teron assured that a proper investigation would be done in the incident.
