13 family members of deceased ATASU leader test COVID positive

GAURISAGAR: Sensation prevailed in Sivasagar district after 13 family members of deceased ATASU leader AshiniChetia tested positive for COVID-19.

Former All Tai Ahom Students' Union (ATASU) president , chief adviser and BJP State executive member AshiniChetia passed away in a private nursing home in Guwahati on July 10 due to critical illness. In his last journey, a large number of well-wishers and State Revenue Minister Jogen Mohan, MPs Tapon Kumar Gogoi and Kamakshya Prasad Tasa, Thowra MLA Kushal Dowari, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner LakhinandanGogoi, Superintendent of Police Amitav Sinha, bureaucrats, leaders of various student organizations and a large number of BJP activists had gathered at his HahcharaNapamChetiagoan residence.

The next day, AshiniChetia's two brothers Mukul Chetia and Prasanta Chetia tested positive for COVID-19. Hearing the news, people who had attended the funeral of AshiniChetia came forward for swab test and most of them tested negative. But on Saturday, 13 family members of AshiniChetia tested positive.

The affected persons are RitumoniChetia (32), Madhusmita Swarnakar (39), Chandra Kamal Swarnakar (44), Minakshi Devi (30), Ranjit Chetia (55), AimoniChetia (38), DipaChetia (45), AsomiChetia (38), ArindomChetia (3), Bobita Chetia (40), Deep Kurmi (45), MintuChetia (45) and PallabiChetia (32).
