LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Health Department sent 13 swab samples to the Regional Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, ICMR, RMRC of Dibrugarh district for COVID-19 test on Wednesday. Of them, 11 swab samples were sent for repeat test while the rest two are the swab samples collected afresh from two persons with suspected coronavirus exposure.
The swab samples sent for the repeat test are of the 11 persons who are under observation at present in the mass quarantine facility set up at OPD College. Notably, these 11 persons came in contact with Babu Ali, the COVID-19 patient of the district.
On the other hand, the second batch of the medical staff who treated the COVID-19 patient is also under quarantine. One doctor of the batch is under quarantine at Hotel Maple Leaf while rest seven medical and para-medical staff employees are in at Hotel Nandakishore.
At present, a total of 25 persons are under observation in the mass quarantine facility of the district. Of them, 14 persons are in the COVID-19 Hospital of the district while 11 persons are in the mass quarantine facility at OPD College.
The number of people stamped for home quarantine in the district rose to 5,061 on Wednesday. The Health Department stamped 56 people of the district for home quarantine on Tuesday, while 172 people were stamped on Wednesday. On the other hand, 170 persons of the district on Tuesday, 94 people on Wednesday, with a cumulative total of 3,972, completed their 28-day long home quarantine period in the district.
On the other hand, a 17-member team has conducted regular health screening of the people under containment and buffer zones covering Ward No. 11 of North Lakhimpur town. Notably, the COVID-19 patient of the district lived in Ward No. 11, which was declared containment zone after he tested positive. The health screening team comprises of seven Anganwadi workers, 4 ANMs, 3 ASHA workers, two teachers and 2 MPWs.
