Haflong: The 131st birth anniversary of the socio-religious reformer and founder of Satsang, Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra was celebrated with gaiety at Haflong Satsang Vihar on Sunday. The day’s programme started with nahabat at dawn and usha kirtan early in the morning followed by congregational prayer, pranam, namjop and reading of holy books of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchanda. This was followed by a procession carrying the beautifully decorated portrait of Sri Sri Thakur wherein hundreds of people from various parts of Haflong, Lower Haflong and Sarkari Bagan took part. The procession started from the premises of Haflong Satsang Vihar and marched through the main road up to the boys’ hostel of Government Boys HS School and then again converged at Haflong Satsang Vihar at Haflong.
A religious discourse was held wherein all the speakers dwelt at length on the life and ideology of Sri Sri Thakur while discussing philanthropic activities of the Satsang founded by Sri Sri Thakur. The speakers also appealed to people to follow the path shown by Sri Sri Thakur which would help the society develop as a whole.
Several hundreds of people took prasad at Anada Bazar. Talking to this correspondent, Pankaj Kumar Deb, president of the Utsav Committee, informed that a large number of people from various communities took part in the celebration.
