14 cases of Japanese Encephalitis detected in Sivasagar district

SIVASAGAR: At a time when along with the rest of the country, Sivasagar is fighting hard to check COVID-19, cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) have been reported from various parts of the district raising concerns.

The Sivasagar Health Department has informed that of the 14 JE cases detected in the Sivasagar district so far, four patients are undergoing treatment at AMCH, Dibrugarh while the others have been discharged.

Till the current month, the disease has affected people in Geleky, Demow, Morabazar, Gaurisagar and Kaloogaon in the district. Geleky and Demow are most affected araes, said the Health official.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, fogging has been undertaken in the vulnerable areas and other SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are being observed to keep the virus under check, added the Health official.
