142 Bn CRPF celebrates Valour Day in remembrance of an act of unparalleled bravery

GOLAGHAT: The 142 Battalion, CRPF celebrated Valour Day at Battalion Headquarter, Jonaki Nagar, Golaghat on Tuesday. Valour Day is celebrated in remembrance of an act of unparalleled bravery displayed by a small contingent of CRPF personnel, pitted against a full-fledged infantry Brigade of Pakistani Army trying to overcome their post at Sardar Post and Tak Post, Rann of Kutch, Gujarat on April 9, 1965. They not only defeated the Pakistani Brigade but also killed 34 enemy soldiers and captured four of them.

During the celebration of Valour Day, Om Prakash, Commandant took salute at the headquarter at the ceremonial function. He spoke about the importance of Valour Day and everyone took a pledge to fight against terrorism and to secure the country’s defense. Martyred jawan Ct. Praveen Bora was paid homage in his school at Amalapatty in a befitting function. In his memory, a plaque has also been installed at the Amalapatty School where he studied till Class X.
