15 Assam Police Personnel to be Awarded in Delhi on This Republic Day

A list of 901 names of the police officials to receive the prestigious Police Medals has been released by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.

GUWAHATI: Keeping with the traditions of the country, the central government will award distinguished police personnel from across the country on the occasion of Republic Day. A total of 901 members of police forces from the states and UTs of India on January 26.

A list of 901 names of the police officials to receive the prestigious Police Medals has been released by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday. This list of officials includes 140 names for the Police Medal for Gallantry, 93 names for the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 668 names for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Among the names announced, 80 out of 140 Police Medals for Gallantry will be given out to officials posted in regions affected by Left Wing Extremism. 45 officials from the Jammu and Kashmir region are also on the list and so are 48 Central Reserve Police Force personnel. 31 members of Maharastra Police and 25 from Jammu and Kashmir Police are also going to be awarded tomorrow.

15 members of the Assam Police will also be rewarded on the 74th Republic Day. Out of these, Kangkan Jyoti Saikia, DIGP, South Range, Silchar, Assam will be honoured with the President's Police Medal for Distinguish Service. The remaining 14 officials will be receiving the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
