15 day-training programme for agricultural input dealers inaugurated in Sonitpur

TEZPUR: Inauguration of a 15-day training programme for Agricultural Input Dealers was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur campus on Monday, it will be continued till December 27. The training is jointly organized by Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and District Agriculture Office, Sonitpur. Dr. Arifa Momtaz Begum, In-charge, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur, welcomed the dignitaries and input dealers for the training programme and elaborated about the objective of organizing the training.

Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das welcomed the participants and emphasized the necessity of creating awareness among input dealers regarding agricultural inputs and described about the 15-day training programme, its prospects and advantages of the programme to the dealers. He also emphasized importance of soil testing and Soil Health Card to reduce the cost of cultivation.

Speaking at the occasion, Prakash Chandra Borah Joint Director of Agriculture-cum-DAO, Sonitpur welcomed the inputs dealers and said explained on soil health deterioration due to injudicious application of chemical fertilizers to the crop field. The programme was also attended by Hareswar Das, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Sanjukta Saikia, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) and they interacted with the participants. Around 25 input dealers participated in the training programme. A technical bulletin on "Potato Cultivation" was also released in the occasion. The Inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Namita Dutta, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science).

Earlier, in the technical session, Diganta Thapa, SDAO, Sonitpur delivered speech on weed management of field and horticultural crops while Prakash Bora also spoke on seed technology including seed technology and seed treatment.
