NAGAON: The celebration of the 175-year jubilee of Nagaon Mission Higher Secondary School concluded on Friday here at its school premises. The celebration started with a two daylong programmes on Monday last with hoisting of 175 flags. As part of the celebration, the reception as well as the organizing committees of the celebration took out a cultural procession throughout the Nagaon town in which thousands of students, alumni, teachers, parents and other well-wishers of the district participated and focused the indomitable glory of the leading educational institute of the small town.

The cultural procession was ceremonially flagged off by the noted Assamese film actress and academician Malaya Goswami. The closing ceremony of the celebration of 175 years jubilee of the institution concluded following a colourful cultural extravaganza at the school premises on Friday evening in which noted Assamese singer Dipleena Deka performed her songs and music.

The institution was first set up as an educational institution for orphans in 1846 by then American missionary and the savior of Assamese language - Miles Bronson which later turned into the first educational institute for females in the entire state.
