LAKHIMPUR: Along with the other parts of the State, the number of COVID-19 positive patients has risen in Lakhimpur district too.

On Sunday, 18 more COVID-19 patients were detected in the district as per test result reported from the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). The newly detected patients are also returnees from other States who were already quarantined in different COVID Care Centres (CCC) set up at various establishments under the district.

These new patients have been identified as Lakhinath Doley (26) of Kardaiguri, Dhakuakhana; Nayan Deury (21) of Kinapothar, Narayanpur; Nabakanta Doley (23) and Rahul Tayung (25) of Bordubi-Moluwal; Dibyajyoti Doley (22) of Borbari, Narayanpur; Jayanta Mili (25) of Adisuti; Joysing Gour (29) of Kathpuri-Dafalakata; Kishnaram Payeng (20) of Dhunaguri; Bimal Pegu (23) and Manoj Pegu (26) of Borbali, (Golaghat); Ajay Mili (24) of Balijan, Mighal Doley (22) and Deboraj Doley (21) of Tamar Gaon, Manoj Taid (20) and Chandan Mili of Adisuti; Sukur Ali (21) of Chilonibari; Lachit Das (30) of Dhalpur-Shimaluguri and Rekibuddin (20) of Kehutoli, Laluk.

All of them returned to the native district from other States almost a week back and they had all been under observation for the suspected coronavirus exposure. The former two patients came back home from Kolkata and they were quarantined at NEEPCO guest house CCC. On the other hand, the later 16 persons had come back from Mumbai and Chennai where they worked and they were quarantined at OPD College CCC. Their swab samples were sent to AMCH on Saturday for the repeat test of COVID-19. All these patients were shifted from the OPD College CCC and NEEPCO guest house CCC to the Dedicated COVID Health Centre (DCHC) of Lakhimpur district set up at Telahi Model Hospital. With these patients, the number of active cases of COVID-19 has risen to 44 in the district.

On the other hand, the OPD College CCC was closed for 14 days for due sanitization in the wake of detecting 38 COVID-19 patients from the CCC concerned. The remaining 26 inmates of the CCC were shifted to Hotel Nandikeswar CCC and GAK Lodge CCC of North Lakhimpur town.
