19th foundation day of Kalugaon Press Club observed at Saloguri Natyamandir in Sivasagar

GAURISAGAR: The Kalugaon Press Club observed its 19th foundation day recently at Saloguri Natyamandir. The day-long programme started with hoisting of the flag by Rajkumar Srikonseng followed by Smriti tarpan initiated by Subarna Neog, Putali Baruah, Hemolata Dutta, Sikha Dutta, Dr Amrit Tamuli and Saurav Neog. Later, the Sachidhar Neog memorial recitation competition was held. The Tulashi Narayan Baruh, Ashimanonda Dutta and Sanjib Baruah memorial lecture were held on the topic ‘Panchayati Raj system- the past and present’. Rajkumar Srikonseng, president of Kalugaon Press Club, conducted the seminar while Anjan Bordoloi, Principal of Saloguri HS school inaugurated it. Ajoy Kumar Gogoi, Professor of the Department of Political Science, Moran Women College, took part in the seminar as an appointed speaker. In his speech, he highlighted the key role of the Panchayati Raj system from Vedic era to present time.
