1st batch of traditional community healthcare providers awarded certificates in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: The 1st batch of 15 Traditional Community Healthcare Providers (TCHP) of Assam who were declared successful after having gone through the assessment of their knowledge and skill as per the Standards of ISO 17024 Personnel Certification, were awarded their certificates in a day-long programme held at Sri Gita Ashram, Padumoni, Jorhat on Tuesday.

Certified under Voluntary Certification Scheme for Traditional Community Healthcare Providers (VCSTCHP) of Quality Council of India, New Delhi, the programme was attended by folk healers from Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, besides Assam, including 11 evaluators from Assam. Prof DT Khathing Vice-Chancellor of North East Christian University (NECU), Dimapur, Dr Debjani Roy, Adviser QCI, New Delhi, Dr H Chichi of Dimapur, Dr Rishi Das of Tinsukia, Jonardhan Goswami Xatradikhar, Debendra Dev Goswami, Sangha Chalok RSS graced the occasion as guests. Dr Krisna Kanta Nath of Herbal Medical Research Centre (HMRC), Jorhat has been nominated by the Personnel Certification Body (PrCP) as Nodal Officer for Assam while HMRC acted as the facilitating organization.

The programme also witnessed the presentation of special appreciation award to two women folk healers of Assam - Junu Hazarika and Juri Gogoi.

In his brief speech, Dr Khathing lauded the efforts of traditional healers of Assam and urged upon the healthcare providers to work selflessly for the community and to support the Personnel Certification Body (PrCB) achieving its goal. Dr Chishi informed the gathering that a 9-member North Eastern Traditional Healers’ Association had been constituted on Tuesday with Dr H.Chichi as president and Pratap Chandra Bordoloi as general secretary.
