KOKRAJHAR: The two-day event of 1st Khamrubu International Short Film Festival held in Guwahati concluded recently. The film festival received more than 900 films from across the world through online submission. The festival was inaugurated by Festival Director Anamika Basumatary and Barnali Goyari, a young entrepreneur from Guwahati, by lighting the lamp. The event was hosted by Abhinash Narzary and awards were also announced by him.

The award categories of the festival were divided into two - national and international. The best Indian documentary film was awarded to Pinnacle directed by Vikram Jeet Singh Parmar. Short film Ticket, directed by Abhik Das, received the best short film award. The best animated short film was awarded to Punarudaya, directed by Sreemon Das. The Hope, directed by Partha Sarathi Manna, won best short film in Science Fiction Category.

Short film Lunch, directed by Satyaranjan Sarmah from Nagaon, Assam, received 1st runner-up award. Kajol Sambhu was awarded with best Male Actor for his performance in Ticket. Pansy Brahma was awarded with best female actress for her performance in the short film Dusk. She hails from Assam. Dusk, directed by Ujjal Paul, also received best Screenplay award. Hanif Rehman from Assam received best male child artist award for the short film Lunch.

In international section, Let There Be Light from Bangladesh directed by KM Taj-Biul Hasan won the best documentary award. The Eye from Iran directed by Omid Seifi won best short film award in International Section. A Drawing, directed by Brad Condie from United States of America won the best animated short film award. Florencia De Maio from the film Chromatic Suspension from Spain, directed by Cristina Diez Madronero Manzano, was awarded as the Best Female Actress. Adnan Jaffar from the film The Storyteller from Pakistan, directed by Ammar Ahmed, was awarded as the Best Male Actor.
