1st North East leaders’ conclave (NELCON) concludes at Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: The Toastmasters Club of Dibrugarh, a part of the Toastmasters International group that strives to work in the field of public speaking, held the 1st North East Leaders Conclave (NELCON) at Dibrugarh Gymkhana Club on Monday evening.

The event was graced by Toastmasters International President-Elect, Richard E. Peck, DTM, and also by several other dignitaries, including Chiranjeet Baruah, India’s renowned horticulturist; Pratim Baruah, Associate Professor of Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University, and Dr. Nazrana Ahmed, chairperson of Assam Tea Planters’ Association and Director, Ahmed Tea Co. (P) Ltd.

Question and answer sessions were conducted with all the dignitaries. It was followed by fusion music by the local band. Thereafter, prepared speeches were delivered by certain speakers, and they were evaluated based on certain parameters of public speaking. Talking to The Sentinel, Vivek Deorah, president of the Dibrugarh Club, said that the organization wanted to create good speakers who could make a positive impact on society by putting across their voice in an effective manner.
