GUWAHATI: In a major development, the Gauhati University announced on Wednesday that the 1st semester examinations for the year 2020 will be conducted by the University from August 9. This information came as a respite for the students whose future preparations were hanging on a delicate balance owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The respite came after an official statement from the Gauhati University was made on this regards. The statement read, "This is for information of all concerned that the TDC BA, BSc, BCom and BVoc 1st semester Examination 2020 will be held 9th august, 2021."
Furthermore, the statement requested students to fill up the exam form on or before July 29.
Talking to the Sentinel Assam, a first semester student Sanjib Talukdar said, "The decision by the University administration came as a major relief for us. We have been preparing for the exams since a long time, but due to indefinite closure of the University in lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state, our future loomed in darkness."
"The pandemic affected us not only physically, but also psychologically. After so much of hardwork last time, the exams were earlier canceled due to the COVID-19. I just pray to god that this time nothing bad happens or else we would be doomed. There are many who are also preparing for higher studies and I feel bad for them as missing out a year in any student's life is a big disaster. I thank the University wholeheartedly for this decision that has helped us ease the tension a bit. At least now we have a proper date for exams," added Talukdar.
Earlier, The Gauhati University (GU) has announced that the MBA entrance examination under the varsity and its affiliated colleges for the session 2021-2022 will be conducted on August 8 at 10:00 am. The admit card will be available from August 1 in www.guportal.in.
