GUWAHATI: Two National level promising kickboxers and three other girls from Assam have allegedly joined the rebel group of Northeastern state Assam, ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom).

Notably, on Friday 12 November a video went viral wherein the women players have made the announcement of joining ULFA.

The two woman kickboxers are identified as one Nayanmati Chetia who is a resident of the district of Tinsukia, Assam and another as Sabita Chetia belongs from Gogamukh of Dhemaji district, north Assam.

Apart from the kickboxer, three other girls seen in the video are identified as one Sarmistha Saikia a resident of Laluk in the Lakhimpur district of Assam. The identity of two other girls is not yet known though according to sources they are from Majuli and Morigaon of Assam.

The video shared saw the visual of the two woman kickboxers, Nayanmati and Sabita entering dense forests along with three other girls from Assam.

The three girls moved ahead towards the jungle with the purpose of joining ULFA during the time when the government of Assam is in contact with the Chief of ULFA, Paresh Baruah for holding peace talks.

Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier said that Home Minister of India, Amit Shah has given him the authority for considering preliminary discussion with the militant group of Assam ULFA (I). He further said that if everything goes in a positive direction, there can be the involvement of the central government in the peace meeting with ULFA.

On Tuesday 9 November, the players and three other girls were found to be missing in their respective places. As per sources the woman kickboxer from Tinsukia, Naynamati Chetia is a mother of 7 years old boy and wife of a guard at Tinsukia Sadar Police Station, she was providing kickboxing training to children from different parts of the district.
