200 kg cannabis seized at Kharupetia in Darrang district

MANGALDAI: The organized gang of the smugglers involved in the smuggling of contraband cannabis have been carrying out their flourishing nefarious activities in certain areas of Udalguri district which has been reflected with the recovery of 200 kilograms of cannabis from a truck at Kharupetia in Darrang district. Sub Inspector Abhijit Kakoty, the Officer in Charge of Kharupetia Police Station in Darrang district with the instruction from Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan carried out an operation on Friday night and seized a truck bearing registration number WB59A7444 and recovered the cannabis contained in 37 packets. However, the driver and the handymen of the truck managed to escape taking the chance of night hours.

According to the source the truck was loaded somewhere in the Rowta area of Udalguri district and was moving towards some unknown destination in West Bengal.
