202 panchayat offices did not observe Ambedkar Jayanti

Golaghat AASCSU files complaint

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), April 19: The All Assam Scheduled Caste Students' Union (AASCSU) Golaghat district committee sharply reacted to Dr BR Ambedkar's 126th birth anniversary programme in Golaghat district on Wednesday.

The president of Golaghat district AASCSU, Dhruba Jyoti Bharali alleged that despite clear instruction from the Government of India, the 202 Gaon Panchayat offices in Golaghat district did not observe the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.

He said that the 126th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar was observed across the country on April 14, but in Golaghat district the panchayat officials did not obey the instruction of the government. In this regard the AASCSU Golaghat district committee went to the Deputy Commissioner's office, Golaghat and filed a complaint.

The Additiol Deputy Commissioner has sought photographs and proceedings of observation of Dr BR Ambeddkar's 126th birth anniversary from the panchayat officials immediately.
