230 youths join 'Surakshshit Hum Surakshit Tum Abhiyaan'

DHUBRI: Dhubri District Development Commissioner Kanta Das launched COVID response campaign, 'Surakshshit Hum Surakshit Tum Abhiyaan' (We are safe, You are safe Mission) - a joint initiative with Aspirational District Collaborative - recently.

This is in fact a NITI Aayog and Piramal Foundation initiative with hyper-local collaborators like NGOs, NYK and colleges, faith leaders, PRI and SHGs for hyper-local solutions. Apart from Asha and Anganwadi workers who will support on field, more than 230 youth volunteers are keen to virtually provide homecare to COVID patients and their relatives and in addressing vaccine hesitancy and COVID appropriate behaviour across the district.

The DDC said, "I am extremely excited to see the response of the youths who all are interested to join as volunteers in this campaign." The launch event was held at the DC's conference hall in presence of Health Department, Zila Parishad, Social welfare department, member of NYKS and Piramal Foundation.

Talking to The Sentinel, Dhubri district Programme Leader of Piramal Foundation, Tanima Narayan informed that Surakshit Hum Surakshit Tum Campaign was launched by NITI Aayog on June 8. "Thus the Dhubri district administration initiated the campaign in collaboration with Piramal Foundation, and different hyper-local NGOs, faith leaders, media houses and other departments of the district," Tanima added.

She said that all joined hands in the fight against COVID-19 and to mitigate this pandemic. The campaign will provide home care support virtually to COVID patients and COVID Warriors and their relatives by making them aware. The campaign aims to address the need of the hour during this global pandemic situation. The campaign will be led by the volunteers virtually and Anganwadi workers working in the field.
