The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise alarmingly in the Lakhimpur district. A total of 241 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Thursday.

LAKHIMPUR: The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise alarmingly in the Lakhimpur district. A total of 241 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Thursday.

Out of them, 224 cases were detected as per the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) result while rest 17 cases were found as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. The RAT cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (6), Dhalpur BPHC (19), Bihpuriya BPHC (12), Naiboicha BPHC (22), Boginadi BPHC (44), Ghilamora BPHC (5), Dhakuakhana BPHC (12), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (82) and Private Nursing Homes (22).

On this day, the District Health Department conducted 1588 RATs across the district including the Private Nursing Homes with 23.15 per cent achievement in conducting the RATs in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 6860. On this day, 6 students of the district, 2 under Dhalpur BPHC, 3 under Boginadi BPHC and 1 in Private Nursing Homes, were found to be infected with COVID-19. A total of 64 suspected swab samples were collected at Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic for the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test.

One more doctor and his wife along with 5 more nurses of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital tested COVID-19 positive on Thursday. Over 100 employees of the LMCH have been found infected with COVID-19. As a result of it, other patients have been facing serious problems while getting treatment in LMCH these days.

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district during the second and third waves of the pandemic has hiked up to 14,377 since April 1 of the last year.
