241 sacks of Burmese Supari worth Rs 55 lakh seized near Assam-Mizoram Border

Silchar: At least two trucks loaded with 241 sacks of Burmese Supari (betel nut) seized by Assam police at Lailapur near Assam-Mizoram Border on Friday.

After a thorough check-up, police recovered huge sacks of Burmese supari were recovered from both the trucks.

Trucks bearing registration number UP-78-FN-6424 and UP-78-FN-2511 were coming from Mizoram and were heading to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Police apprehended both the drivers from the spot.

Meanwhile, the Customs Department had detained all the 241 sacks of Burmese supari which were allegedly brought from Myanmar and investigating the matter further.

It is to be noted that the cost of 241 sacks of Burmese supari in the Indian market would be around Rs 55 lakh.
