250 Grams of Heroin Worth Rs 1.5 Cr Seized by Kamrup Police

GUWAHATI: In another success story of Kamrup Police, 250 grams of Heroin price at 1.5 crores recovered in a raid conducted by Kamrup Police.

Meanwhile, two persons have been arrested in this connection. We stand by our motto of zero-tolerance against drugs.

On the other hand, the Guwahati Police seized 276 cartons of Eskuf cough syrup from the Jorabat area on Wednesday night.

Briefing about the bust to the media, Guwahati Commissioner of Police (CP) Munna Prasad Gupta said, "Acting on a tip-off, the ADCP (East), ACP Basistha along with Basistha Police and Jorabat Police intercepted a truck (NL01AB9942) plying towards Tripura from Guwahati. The truck was transporting a total of 276 cartons of Eskuf cough syrup. The cartons contained a total of 44,160 bottles and its approximate value is around Rs 65 lakh. The driver of the truck has been arrested."

As part of new Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's war on drugs, police have arrested several dealers and seized large quantities of illegal substances in the last few weeks.

Last month, 2,439 grams of heroin, 91 kg of ganja, 17,551 bottles of cough syrup, around 1.57 lakh methamphetamine tablets, 14.16 grams of morphine, and Rs. 10.5 lakh in cash were seized.
