26 candidates file nomination in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: Altogether 26 candidates filed their nominations for Doomdooma Municipal Board (DMB) election slated for March 6 at Doomdooma while at Chapakhowa, the headquarter town of Sadiya subdivision, 31 persons filed their nomination at Sadiya Subdivision Office (SDO) at Chapakhowa on Tuesday.

Both the municipal boards have 10 wards each. In Doomdooma, while 10 BJP candidates filed their nominations for the 10 wards of the town before the Circle Officer, Doomdooma Revenue Circle (attached), Suranjita Sarma, the number of nominations for Indian National Congress (INC) was 11 as in Ward No. 3, two of its official candidates - Guddi Shah and Renu Kumari - filed their nominations. On the other hand, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) too fielded their nomination for DMB election. AGP fielded three candidates - Wahida Khatun in Ward No.4, Mukul Kumar Deka in Ward No.5 and Binisha Das in Ward No.9, while on behalf of AJP, for the first time two candidates - Trishna Baglari Dube and Bishmita Mahanta - submitted their nominations in Ward No.1 and Ward No. 5 respectively. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on February 17. The date of withdrawal of nominations is February 20.

The break-up of number of candidates filing nominations ward wise for Chapakhowa Municipal Board (CMB) are as follows - Ward No (W.N) 1 : 4, W.N.2 : 2, W.N.3 : 3, W.N.4 : 3, W.N.5 : 3, W. N. 6 : 2, W.N. 7 : 3, W.N.8 : 3, W.N.9 : 2, W.N.10 : 6.
