DHUBRI: Twenty-eight flute and toy making artisans who were stranded in Dhubri district, were sent to Bihar by bus on Friday night. When the plight of the stranded artisans was brought to the notice of Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani by media persons, he started official formalities to send them back to their home State.

The 28 artisans who hail from the district of Khagaria, Muzaffarpur and Saharsa in Bihar, like every year, arrived in Dhubri on March 7 and engaged themselves in making of flutes and Tom-Tom gadi in the house of Dev Kumar in ward no. 10 (Nuniyapatty) of Dhubri town. But they got stranded due to sudden announcement of lockdown in the country. When this scribe met the group leader Mohammed Azmal at the time of departure of the bus from Nuniyapatty in Dhubri town, he said that they were extremely happy as they would unite with their families and celebrate Eid together. "We will never forget the people who extended all help and assistance during our stay of over two months. They offered iftar to us during this month of Ramzan," Azmal said. An ardent social worker and secretary of Dhubri Lions Club, Sanjay Kumar Sethia, secretary of Dhubri Red Cross Society, Rajiv Sarma and senior member of Dhubri Marwari Yuva Manch, Ravindra Todi were present and arranged everything with the help of Executive Officer of Dhubri Municipal Board, Rahul Javir for their smooth trip home.

Secretary of Dhubri Lions Club, Sanjay Kumar Sethia told The Sentinel that it was Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani who made this trip back home for the artisans possible in a quick span of time. "Further, secretary of Dhubri Red Cross Society, Rajiv Sarma and social worker Ravindra Todi, Executive Officer of Dhubri Municipal Board, Rahul Javir, and Dev Kumar, the owner of the house where the artisans were staying, extended support during their stay in Dhubri," Sethia added.
