29,000 SP capsules worth Rs 3 lakh seized in East Karbi Anglong; one arrested

BOKAJAN: In a major development, the Khatkhati Police seized a huge consignment of the highly sedative Spaxmo Proxybon (SP) capsules from the Dudu Colony area adjacent to Assam-Nagaland border.

Based on specific information, the Khatkhati police raided the Dudu colony area and recovered 29,000 Spaxmo Proxybon capsules from the possession of Arjun Debbarma, a resident of Tripura. Two of his accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

"As per the preliminary investigation, the contraband was meant to be smuggled into Nagaland where it is sold at Rs10 per capsule. Around 40 packets containing 720 loose capsules each have been seized. The sale of these drugs is regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act and is placed under restricted item," said a police officer. A couple of days back, Khatkhati Police had seized a truck trying to smuggle 210 kg consignment of suspected ganja.
