LAKHIMPUR: Three more COVID-19 patients, including a health official, were detected in Lakhimpur district during the last twenty four hours. They have been identified as Kabita Bhorali (26) of Amtola village, Purnananda Deuri (25) of Bahgora Deuri Gaon and Sourabh Saikia (30), who is the Hospital Administrator of North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital (NLCH) under National Health Mission (NHM).

Kabita Bhorali was in Kalher village, Thane in Mumbai along with her husband Rubal Bhorali and their 7 year old daughter. There Rubal Bhorali worked with a medicine transporter company. On June 20, they started their return journey to Lakhimpur by Lokamanya Tilak Express and reached Guwahati on June 22. Then they came to Dibrugarh by Brahmaputra Mail and arrived in Lakhimpur on June 23 by bus. On the same day, their swab samples were collected at Subansiri College and they were quarantined at Hotel Maa Kali. The woman was reported positive for coronavirus on Thursday morning.

Purnananda Deuri is a tempo driver and his vehicle had been engaged for Narayanpur quarantine center duty for 20 days. Though he had been at Madhavdev University complex with seven co-workers, he was at home on last three days. His swab was collected on June 24 and his test result was reported positive on Thursday. At present, his seven member family was also put in home quarantine. Both patients were already shifted to Dedicated COVID Health Center at Boginadi Model Hospital.

On the other hand, Sourabh Saikia is the resident of Pothalipam village and his swab was collected on June 24. His contact with a person who was detected positive for coronavirus in Dhemaji is suspected to be the main reason of his infection. His swab test result was reported positive on Friday morning. He was admitted in the isolation ward of NLCH. With these patients, the COVID-19 cases in Lakhimpur increased up to 109. Out of them 76 patients were discharged while 33 are active cases.
