30 inmates test COVID-19 positive in Golaghat District Jail

GOLAGHAT: After the Central Jail in Guwahati, this time several COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Golaghat District Jail.
Sensation prevailed on Tuesday in Golaghat when 30 people of Golaghat District Jail tested COVID positive. Rapid Antigen Test was conducted in the District Prison in Golaghat. In the results it was found that 30 people had been infected. Among them, six are jail staff and the rest are inmates. Allegations have been made against the jail authorities for not taking precautions while bringing inmates from different places during this pandemic situation, which probably led to so many people getting infected.
Meanwhile, Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Bibhash Chandra Modi along with other administrative officials and health department officials rushed to the jail and monitored the situation. The DC stated that a special COVID hospital would be set up inside the jail premises to treat the patients. Doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff will be deployed there.
