31 Cattle Rescued from a Truck in Behali, Driver Arrested

BEHALI: Behali police have been able to rescue 31 cattle from the suspected illegal dealer of the animals on the morning of Wednesday.

According to the police officials, an operation was carried out by a team under the officer-in-charge of the Behali Police Station. The team was able to rescue a total of 31 cattle. They also informed that the cattle were being transported illegally in the truck. The truck carrying the animals was seized by the police team, the registration number for the same was UP 65 BT 8150. The driver of the truck was also apprehended by the police team for his involvement in the incident. His identity was revealed as one Rajkumar Pojapoti from Banaras.

They also informed that the team was forced to chase down the truck at about 4 AM and was able to stop the vehicle at Biswanath Chariali. According to the information received, the cattle were being transported from Arunachal Pradesh to Meghalaya. The driver was being interrogated by the police soon after he was taken into custody.

Actions have also been initiated against those involved in illegal cattle trade in the Lumding region of the state. the Operation regarding preventing such activities was initiated by Lumding Police. The operation was undertaken by the officer in charge of the Lumding Police station Chandan Jyoti Bora and the team was able to rescue fourteen cows from the suspected illegal traders of cattle. A total of five people were also apprehended for their involvement in the matter. And a Tata Magic Carrier vehicle bearing registration number AS 02 DC 2103 was seized by the police team.

The team mentioned that the culprits were on the police radar for a long time and that the operation was carried out based on specific inputs. They were apprehended on National Highway 27. The identities of the five people arrested by the police were revealed to be Harekrishna Das, Sanjib Das and Dilip Das from Lumding and Ranjit Rirang and Dataram Rirang from Barlongfa. A case has been registered regarding the incident in the Lumding Police Station and the necessary investigation has been started.
