325 Cartons of illegal Foreign Liquor seized in Goalpara district

Goalpara: A joint operation of the excise department, Chief Minister’s Vigilance and Anti-corruption cell and Excise Intelligence Bureau on Friday midnight seized a huge consignment of illegal foreign liquor at Kharboja in Goalpara district.

The team also successfully arrested two persons from the spot - Nipul Rabha and Rajesh Kr Rabha. The seized liquor was in 325 cartons and is worth Rs 10 lakh.

Both Nipul and Rajesh Rabha were produced before the district court on Saturday and sent to the judicial custody for 14 days. The excise department undertook the mission under the supervision of Lakshmi Nandan Baruah, Superintendent of Excise of Goalpara district.

Lakhipur and Dudhnoi excise teams of the district, in separate operations on November 22, had recovered illicit liquor and fermented wash from Hasdoba, Kahibari, and Khilamari. One Pholendra Koch was also arrested from Hasdoba by the Lakhipur team.
