34 candidates in fray for 7 BTC constituencies in Chirang

Kokrajhar: After four withdrew their nominations on Saturday, a total of 34 candidates are in the fray in 7 Bodoland Territorial Council Constituencies (BTC) in the district of Chirang.

One candidate, Jaseph Basumatary from the 14- Chirang Duars (ST) BTCC in Kajalgaon Sadar subdivision and three candidates under Kajalgaon Sadar subdivision, namely Atin Hazong (Ind) from 18- Manas Serfang (ST), Chentu Chaklader (Ind) and Nripen Sutradhar (Ind) from 19-Thuribari BTCC, withdrew their nominations on the last day for withdrawing nomination for the BTC election, 2020.

Now, 13 candidates in the fray under the Returning Officer, Chirang are Alok Basumatary (BJP), Saikhong Basumatary (BPF), Maoti Brahma Hazoary (UPPL), Pulmuti Basumatary (VPI) and Bidyut Sarania (Ind) for 13- Chirang (ST) BTCC, Kampa Borgayari (BPF), Binad Narzary (VPI) and Ranjit Basumatary (UPPL) for 14- Chirang Duars (ST) BTCC while for 15- Kajalgaon (ST) BTCC, the candidates in fray are Binad Brahma (INC), Paniram Brahma (BPF), Rwngwra Narzary (UPPL), Sabendra Basumatary (VPI) and Arpana Das (Ind).

On the other hand, after withdrawal of three candidates in Bijni Civil subdivision, total 21 candidates are in the fray. They are James Basumatary (BPF), Nirmal Brahma (UPPL) and Jamuna Boro (Ind) from 16- Nichima (ST) BTCC, Arun Narzary (INC), Prabhat Basumatary (BPF), Guneswar Goyary (UPPL) and Bijay Kr. Deka (Ind) for 17-Subhaijhar (ST) BTCC, Dhananjay Basumatary (BPF), Sibnath Brahma (BJP), Suresh Daimary (UPPL), Jyatish Chandra Das (Ind), and Saraswati Ray (GSP) for 18- Manas Serfang (ST) BTCC and Abhiram Mahanayak (BJP), Khalilur Rahman (AIUDF), Parthajit Ray (AGP), Lankeswar Deb Ray (CPI-M), Abu Sayed Anchari (UPPL), Imamul Hoque Mahmud (Ind) Munmun Ray (Ind), Monion Muchahary (Ind), Mahadeb Sarkar (Ind) and Moon Moon Ray (Ind) from 19-Thuribari BTC segment.
