349 persons in Tinsukia district under home quarantine: DC Bhaskar Pegu

TINSUKIA: A total of 349 persons who entered Tinsukia district by air or train from outside the State have been put under home quarantine, said Bhaskar Pegu, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, at a press meet held at the DC’s conference hall on Tuesday. He also stated that three hospitals in Tinsukia district, namely Coal India Hospital Margherita, AOD Hospital Digboi and GNB Civil Hospital in Tinsukia, had been equipped as referral hospitals to deal with the cases of COVID-19.

The DC further stated that seven Rapid Response Teams with 35 dedicated centres had been constituted across the district along with 164 sub-centres having surveillance team. He added that health authorities had been asked to ensure that tea garden hospitals should have isolation wards with minimum five beds and if not available, they should acquire unused premises for the purpose. Necessary instruction has been issued to the Health Department to take all preventive measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 in the district, the DC said.

The Deputy Director FCS and CA was directed to take necessary steps to ensure no shortage of essential commodities in the district with direction to the Assistant Labour Commissioner to ensure regular supply of essential commodities to the tea garden families.
