TINSUKIA: Preparation to hold the 3-day 36th annual convention of Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) in the Tinsukia College auditorium from January 9 has been completed. A total of 1,600 delegates from 52 district committees, besides 145 organizations, are expected to attend the convention. Addressing the press meet at Tinsukia Press Club, Amar Ranjan Duwara, the working president, said the delegates would be accommodated in Tinsukia College, Sarbojonin Balika HS School, Senairam HS School, Bipin Bora High School, Adarsha BalikaVidyalaya and Asha Karmi Bhawan of Tinsukia Civil Hospital. He further informed that though the initial budget was earmarked as Rs 70 lakh, due to the present situation the adequate money could not be raised.
According to the day-wise programme schedule, the working (executive) committee meeting, registration and opening of delegate camp with the first session of the general meeting will be held on January 9. On the second day, the events will begin with flag hoisting, swahid tarpan followed by second and third general meetings. The cultural procession will be held on January 11 to be followed by open sessions which will be addressed by Dr. Bhimkanta Baruah of Dibrugarh University and Lurinjyoti Gogoi, AASU general secretary.
