38 returnees test negative for COVID-19 in Bokajan

BOKAJAN: Of the 88 returnees who came to Bokajan from other parts of the country and corona hotspots, 38 have tested negative for COVID-19 as all continue to undergo strict quarantine in various hotels, an official said on Friday.

"Since the lifting of interstate travel ban in the State, 88 people have arrived in Bokajan from different parts of the country. 13 more are on their way and is expected to reach tomorrow. 38 of these returnees have tested negative and we are awaiting reports of others." informed Magistrate Twahir Alam.

"The list of all negative testing returnees have been forwarded to the DC as they are to be released from quarantine gradually after approval from the district committee," Magistrate Alam added.

While the reports of others returnees are awaited, Bokajan police have appealed to people not to panic and believe in rumours about coronavirus. Police have also advised people to strictly abide by the health advisory and remain indoor as a safety measure to protect themselves and their family from contacting the deadly virus.
