Guwahati: In response to the Assam Government's calls to donate blood plasma, the Indian Army has undertaken a plasma donation drive for the COVID-19 patients of the state.

Today, the Indian Army in collaboration with the State Health Department organized a Plasma Donation Camp at Tezpur Medical College.

Over 40 Army personnel of Gajraj Corps, who have recently recovered from COVID-19, donated their Plasma at the camp, officials said.

State Health Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma and Lt Gen Shantanu Dayal, GOC Gajraj Corps, and other civilian and military dignitaries graced the occasion.

The Health Minister, recognizing contributions of Gajraj Corps in the fight against COVID-19, thanked the army personnel assisting the people of Assam in this time of need.

Taking to Twitter afterwards, Sarma wrote, "A day of great joy as over 40 bravehearts joined the #plasmadonation camp at Tezpur Medical College & Hospital. The camp was organised by HQ 4 Corps of ADGPI and NHM Assam. My gratitude to all who came forward for this generous act, that shall help save many lives."
