LAKHIMPUR: A total of 48 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Lakhimpur in the last 24 hours. Out of them, 44 cases were found positive on Wednesday while four cases were detected on Tuesday night. Of them, 10 patients were detected positive as per real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test result while rest 38 patients were found positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted in various places under the district.

With these 48 newly detected patients, the number of total COVID-19 cases in the district has spiked to 2,391. Of them, 1,704 patients have been discharged while 687 are active cases.

On the other hand, the collection of swab from teachers of the district for the COVID-19 test is underway. Till date, a total of 2,252 High School and college teachers of the district already submitted their swab for rRT-PCR Test during the last three days. For this venture, the District Health Department and the Education Department have set up 15 screening centres under seven BPHC-CHCs of six blocks across the district. In the meantime, almost all the college teachers of the district have submitted their swab for the COVID-19 test, informed Mridul Kumar Nath, the Inspector of Schools.
